How to Develop a Website

.) Pick a website host domain that is suitable for your taste and purpose.  I chose   www.weebly.com

.) Once you select your website host domain, select a background that fits your purpose.  I chose something modern and sleek for my social studies webpage.

.) To complete the shell or outline of your webpage, add and title various pages that fit your needs.  My suggestion is to not overload your page with numerous tabs, this could confuse your webpage visitors and make the site more difficult to manage or maneuver.

.) Begin adding information to your home or main page.  This should depict the main reasoning as to why you began your webpage.  Repeat this step for your other pages.  This will allow users to understand the purpose of each page.

.) Changing and creating fonts and font colors requires you to highlight the words necessary for change, and implement the tool bar showing various fonts.

.) Adding graphics requires you to have a picture saved on your computer.  I save my pictures in IPhoto.  Once you have a picture on your computer, you can upload that photo to your website.  Repeat this step where you see fit.  IF YOU ARE USING GRAPHICS OR VIDEOS OF PEOPLE OTHER THAN YOURSELF, PLEASE OBTAIN PERMISSION!  I have student work, photos, and videos uploaded onto my webpage.  I sent home permission slips to be completed by parents in order to highlight student work publically.

.) Adding video to your site requires you to have a video saved on your computer.  I placed my video onto IMovie, cut the movie down to a minute, finalized the movie project, exported it to my desktop, then I uploaded the video privately onto YouTube to where it would not be publically accessed on YouTube.com.  Once the video was uploaded onto YouTube, I copied the link and placed it onto my webpage under Multimedia.  The longer the videos, the longer this process will take you.
